Application Process

Each year Old Scona has approximately 120 positions available to grade 10 students.  The application process is listed below. 

The school admin team chooses students according to the following criteria. The criteria include:

  • a minimum overall average of 80% in Grade 9 English Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics, and Science based on up-to-date report cards. Students with no previous experience in French are expected to enroll in French 10 3Y at summer school as a minimum requirement.

  • a writing of a general cognitive abilities test (Standardized Admission Exam), and

  • a character assessment submitted by a Grade 9 principal or counsellor as part of the application form.

 The examination will be machine scored so please bring an HB pencil and a good eraser.

Stuudents are also required to bring school photo I.D. to the examination

The dates for writing the OSA entrance exam are:  Saturday, February 14, 2015 and Saturday, February 21, 2015.   Students have a choice of writing on either date at  either 9:00 a.m. or 1:00 p.m.   You may register on line (see link below) starting in January 2015.  The examination will take approximately 2.5  hours to complete.  Please bring your school ID with you!

The application deadline:  Monday, February 23, 2015.

We will host an Open House on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 starting at 6:30 p.m.  Please feel free to stop by to visit with students, teachers, administrators and current OSA parents!
